Stage 1: DBI Funding Scheme (2006-2007)

Stage 1 of the DBI Scheme is now closed to further applications. Stage 1 has operated in 2006-2007 by funding initiatives undertaken by cross-sector affiliations of discipline-based leaders. The intention has been to encourage the engagement of discipline groupings with related professional, industry and community stakeholders in identifying challenges relevant to the preparation of graduates of the discipline. It is anticipated that the outcomes of these projects will inform future priorities of the Carrick Institute.

Projects have been funded under four categories:

The aims of Stage 1 are:

  • to develop a disciplinary focus and presence within the Carrick Institute
  • to raise the profile of the DBI Scheme within the sector
  • to facilitate opportunities for Deans, Heads of Department and other discipline leaders to address issues of learning and teaching as they apply to the disciplines
  • to provide evidence for the establishment of ongoing support mechanisms for discipline-based initiatives in learning and teaching

The principles and an action plan for implementation of the DBI Scheme are provided in the Discipline-Based Initiatives Overview, which is available to download at right.

There will be no further funding rounds under the DBI Scheme. Archived copies of the guidelines for Stage 1 are available to download.
